Playground Shade
Thank you for the 636 signatures received on the petition in June 2026. Megan Statler provided us the following update on July 16, 2026:
Temporary / short term solution: The school is adding multiple umbrellas to tables on the playground.
Long term: Plan to add permanent shade structure. One quote received was for $35K for one playground. The school is working on getting additional quotes.
Note: The focus is on the playground by bldg D (not the kinder playground since the school believes this one has better shade to begin with as it has 3 walls surrounding it).
Thank you to @Krupa for leading the effort and others as well (@Paris and @Lara). We will continue to provide updates once it becomes available to us.
Booster Information
1. What is a Booster? BASIS Plano Booster is a Parent Organization that provides assistance to the school, organizes events and activities, provides teacher/staff appreciation, fosters school and family social interaction, encourages students and parents to stay informed, build a community, and have a voice.
2. Booster is a volunteer group of working parents whose kids go to BASIS Plano. In addition to our mission stated above, we strive to continue to provide communications to parents via WhatsApp, Booster Newsletter, ParentSquare, and Social Media (Facebook, Instagram).
3. More information on how you can be a part of the BASIS Plano Booster can be found on our website, https://basisplanobooster.org. We will have a table at Trailblazer Check-in Days on Aug 5th-6th and 10th, 2026.
4. Booster email: BasisPlanoBooster@outlook.com.
5. We are always seeking volunteers for our Booster events, please reach out to us if you are interested.
6. Board and Chair positions are currently filled for the 2026-2027 academic school year, but we will have Grade Parents and Element Parents positions available in ~Sept 2026. We will communicate more information at that time. A Grade Parent is selected for each grade to represent kids and parents at the grade levels at monthly meetings with the school leadership and to communicate Booster and school communications to Element Parents. An Element Parent is selected for each class-element and completes duties as requested by primary teachers and Booster executive board. Selections includes but not limited to time committments and volunteer activity at Booster events.

Security
The school uses Raptor to check all visitors for outstanding warrants prior to entry into the school building each time.
Security cameras have been installed throughout the school, including hallways.
The company has hired a private firm to provide security guards actively on patrol.
The doors to enter the school will be locked at all times.
Building
The building is a renovated church (2025) with some areas that are newly constructed. As of August 2025, the school has all new flooring, painted walls, etc. The class and playground spaces align with other BASIS campuses.
There are no playground shades and not much playground equipment which has been a constant complaint from parents. This issue has been escalated to school administration.
